_pppp_kkkk_gggg_iiii_nnnn_ffff_oooo displays information about software packages that are installed
on the system (as requested in the first synopsis) or that reside on a
particular device or directory (as requested in the second synopsis).
When run without options, _pppp_kkkk_gggg_iiii_nnnn_ffff_oooo displays one line of information about
every installed package (whether installed completely or partially). The
information displayed includes the primary category, package instance,
and name of the package. For a package produced before System V Release
4, _pppp_kkkk_gggg_iiii_nnnn_ffff_oooo displays only the package name and abbreviation.
The _----_pppp and _----_iiii options are meaningless if used in conjunction with the _----_dddd
option. The _----_qqqq, _----_xxxx, and _----_llll options are mutually exclusive.
The options for this command are:
_----_qqqq Do not list any information, but check (that is, query) from
within a program whether or not a package has been installed.
_----_xxxx Display an extracted listing of package information, including
the package abbreviation, package name, package architecture
(if available), and package version (if available).
_----_llll Display a long format listing of package information, including
all available information about the designated package(s).
_----_pppp Display information only for partially installed packages.
_----_iiii Display information only for fully installed packages.
_----_aaaa _a_r_c_h Specify the architecture of the package as _a_r_c_h.
_----_vvvv _v_e_r_s_i_o_n
Specify the version of the package as _v_e_r_s_i_o_n. All compatible
versions can be requested by preceding the version name with a
tilde (~). The list produced by _----_vvvv will include pre-Release 4
packages (with which no version numbers are associated).
Multiple white spaces are replaced with a single space during
version comparison.
_----_cccc _c_a_t Select packages to be displayed on the basis of category
_c_a_t_e_g_o_r_y. (Categories are defined in the category field of the
_pppp_kkkk_gggg_iiii_nnnn_ffff_oooo file; see _pppp_kkkk_gggg_iiii_nnnn_ffff_oooo(4) for details.) If more than one
category is supplied, the package can match no more than one of
PPPPaaaaggggeeee 1111
ppppkkkkggggiiiinnnnffffoooo((((1111)))) ppppkkkkggggiiiinnnnffffoooo((((1111))))
the list of categories. The match is not case specific.
_p_k_g_i_n_s_t Designate a package by its instance. An instance can be a
package abbreviation or a specific instance (for example,
_iiii_nnnn_ssss_tttt_...._1111 or _iiii_nnnn_ssss_tttt_...._bbbb_eeee_tttt_aaaa). All instances of a package can be
requested by _iiii_nnnn_ssss_tttt_...._****. When using this format, enclose the
command line in single quotes to prevent the shell from
interpreting the * character.
_----_dddd _d_e_v Define _d_e_v as the device on which the software resides. _d_e_v
can be a full pathname to a directory or the identifiers for
tape, floppy disk, removable disk, and so on. Use the special
token ``spool'' to represent the default installation spool
directory.
NNNNOOOOTTTTEEEESSSS
_pppp_kkkk_gggg_iiii_nnnn_ffff_oooo cannot tell if a pre-System V Release 4 package is only partially
installed. It is assumed that all pre-Release 4 packages are fully
installed.
